Domain Lock

The domain lock prevents your domain from being transferred. This is a security feature intended to help protect your domain from hijackers. If you want to transfer your domain out to another registrar, you must unlock it. By default, domains registered with Grape.ca are automatically locked. To activate or deactivate the domain lock, complete the following steps.

  1. Log in with your profile.
  2. Click Account Management > My Domains from the menu tabs.
  3. Click the domain you wish to modify directly, or click the gear icon beside it.
  4. Click on the "Change Domain Lock Status" link under the Advanced Actions section of the Manage Domain page.
  5. To enable the domain lock, select the "On" radio button. To disable the lock, select the "Off" radio button. When you are done, click "Update".

Result:

  1. Your domain's client lock is activated or deactivated.
  2. This is a realtime process that should happen immediately.

Notes:

If you unlock your domain, but do not complete a domain transfer, we strongly recommend re-locking your domain name to keep it safe.

This process modifies the clientLock. You may encounter errors that refer to a serverLock; this message refers to a lock placed on the domain by the registry following the initial registration of the domain or the transfer of the domain to another registrar. This lock will remain enabled for 60 days following one of these events.
